Hardwood is otherwise only accessible through four renewable stumps in Cindersap forest or disposable logs and mahogany trees, so these eight renewable stumps are incredibly valuable.īut the forest farm is also beneficial to farmers just beginning their journeys. Hardwood is also necessary for farmhouse upgrades and building the stable that allows players access to horses. Not only is hardwood a helpful resource in finishing the Stardew Valley community center bundles, it is also required to craft some crucial items like the cheese press and oil maker. These stumps renew every single day, providing an infinite source of hardwood which is otherwise hard to come by. While early game players won't have access to a strong enough axe to break these stumps, the eight hardwood sources on a forest farm are incredibly valuable after early game. ![]() In Stardew Valley, players can obtain wood and hardwood, the latter coming from large stumps and logs. The first, and arguably most significant special trait of the forest farm is its stumps. Many diehard Stardew Valley farmers have tried every map, and feel the forest farm is the most consistently useful thanks to a few special aspects. But one of the most beloved things about Stardew Valley is its replayability, giving players the chance to start new save files and romance different characters, explore new friendships and skills, and test out different farm maps. It offers a lot of useable land for crops and buildings, and doesn't do much else. As well as this, all of these items are necessary to finish the Community Centre, and they'll all add to the players foraging skills, too. There is a 25% chance for each of these seasonal items to be found on the farm. Across Fall, the items include various mushrooms like Common Mushroom, Red and Purple Mushrooms, and Chanterelle. When Summer comes, players can find Sweet Pea, Grape, Spice Berry, and Common Mushroom. During the Spring, this includes items like Leek, Morel, Wild Horseradish, and Dandelion. There are several berry bushes scattered around the map that will allow players to harvest from them during the months that they're ripe, and there are eight Large Stumps at the western edge of the farm that will respawn daily, allowing the player to farm for hardwood, a valuable resource throughout much of the game.Īs well as this, there are also different seasonal forages that can be found in random areas on the farm. The Forest Farm absolutely excels when it comes to the potential for foraging - in fact, that's what the design of the map mostly revolves around. However, they will likely be able to make it back with the ample amount of goods available to forage that can be found around the grassy spaces on the farm. The only downside to this is that it may be a little harder for brand-new players to gain as much money from crops as they would with another choice of farm layout. That being said, if players get creative, there is definitely ample space to till and sow seeds. While spacious enough, the Forest Farm has noticeably less space for planting and harvesting crops compared to some other farm layouts. ![]()
